Leadership Starts with You
Be the Teammate Everyone Wants Beside Them.
Leadership is often misunderstood. Many athletes believe leaders are simply the loudest players or the ones wearing the captain's armband. In reality, leadership begins with action.
Athletes become leaders when they consistently do the right thing. They encourage teammates during tough moments. They stay positive when adversity strikes. They hold themselves accountable before holding others accountable. Their actions inspire trust because they lead by example.
Every team culture is shaped by daily behaviors. Positive cultures are built by athletes who choose humility over ego, responsibility over excuses, and team success over personal recognition. When individuals commit to doing the right thing, the entire team becomes stronger.
Being a leader doesn't require a title. It requires courage. Courage to work hard when nobody else does. Courage to remain positive after failure. Courage to make the right choice when the easy choice is available.
At ACES, we want athletes who understand that leadership is not something you earn someday. It is something you demonstrate every day. Every interaction, every practice, and every game presents an opportunity to show others what excellence looks like.
The best leaders don't tell people what the right thing is. They show them through their actions.
